Turki Al-Sheikh Biography: The Billionaire Shaping Saudi Arabia’s Cultural Comeback

By  |

Who would’ve thought that the entertainment king of Saudi Arabia would be someone who holds a degree in security sciences? This is the person – Turki bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Sheikh. He was born in 1981 in the country’s capital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. When he was young, education received a lot of importance, which included risk management and criminology. Of course, this would call for the need to outsmart spies and burglars.

Climbing the Government Ladder Fast

The early life of Turki is about gaining respect within the Ministry of Interior, as well as the Emirate of Riyadh. Turki was already an adviser within the Royal Court by the year 2015. And within less than two years, he became a minister. This is already fast-forwarding within life, especially if one is coping with their thirtieth year. Turki had a position in life. But Turki wanted change. And, somehow, Turki managed to change.

Establishing a Global Platform in Saudi Arabia

Since 2018, as the chairman of the General Authority for Entertainment, Turki has been the force behind Riyadh Seasons and has made it the biggest event that everyone around the globe has to be at. “Imagine that there will be K-pop concerts, WWE SmackDown, Cirque du Soleil, and UFC bouts all going on in the same city or even in the same country,” Turki said. And this is exactly what happened, and instead of being marked on the map, Saudi Arabia was the map itself. What does the nightlife of the desert have in store? Think again.

Football Flips: From Spain to Egypt

Turki has the expertise to make football entertaining and profitable. In the year 2019, he bought the UD Almería for $25 million, developed them, and in the year 2022, he was able to put them into the La Liga. He acquired profits out of the team in the year 2025 with a mind-blowing €100 million, all the way with a shining smile. In Egypt, his time with Pyramids FC was rather too brief. He invested $30 million, created superstars, and then got himself kicked out due to politics and fan admiration. The moral of the lesson: no one, be it rich or poor, can escape the disapproval of the fans.

Boxing Mania

Football may only be an appetizer to the main course, which is boxing. In 2025, Turki invested in an event in the combat sport world through joining TKO Group Holdings and Sela, which is huge in the Saudi events world, to invest an astonishing $300 million. One shudders to imagine what kind of action might take place between pugilists like Tyson Fury, Canelo Alvarez, and Terence Crawford in cities like Riyadh, London, or Vegas. Of course, he also bought The Ring magazine in 2024.

Culture, Concerts, and Quiet Luxury

Through Riyadh Front Productions and the Saudi Music Entertainment Group, Turki funds concerts and festivals, just like a boss. That is the amount per year, say 2023. It is $150 million and above. That is not all the money in other years. He is not the kind of guy who will have money passing through his hands like water. Consider homes in two different places – Marbella and Dubai.

In the middle of all these theatrics, however, is where he still shows himself to be quite charitable. This is through his foundation, which involves donating to poor families and even poetry recitation communities. Wasn’t aware that the guy writes poetry too, did you? “Loud and then everywhere,” his ideology in poetry and in life, apparently.
