Journeying toward self-love is personal and individualistic; however, there are certain strategies which may assist on your journey: self-compassion practiced frequently, setting healthy boundaries and cultivating gratitude as ways to help.

Engaging in self-compassion practices can be helpful when your inner critic becomes loud. Additionally, self-compassion helps us remember all of the wonderful things happening in our lives.

1. Practice Self-Compassion

Self-compassion can be a highly effective tool in combatting negative emotions, managing life challenges, and healing past traumas. Self-compassion forms part of loving-kindness meditation practices and can be essential in being resilient against challenges in your own life.

According to research, one of the kindest acts you can show yourself is treating yourself with empathy and kindness. This means taking an objective view of any mistakes or missteps on your part rather than condemning yourself for them.

One simple practice to try is writing yourself an open and supportive letter like you were communicating with one of your best friends.
