Where are the best lakes & beaches near Edmonton?

Don’t look any further! We have something for you in every direction from the city. We are making it easy to pack a cooler and hit the road for a day of fun in the sun with the family. Nothing beats a day at the beach in the summer.

Unfortunately, blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) are common in our lakes during the summer, so always check the Alberta Health advisories before you go.

NORTH

Long Lake Provincial Park Beach

Long Lake Provincial Park (20 km south of Boyle on Hwy. 831 & 2 km northeast)

The trip from Edmonton takes about one and a half hours.

Price: Free

Features of the day-use beach include a playground, cooking shelters, restrooms and changing areas, a roped-off swimming area, and a concession stand. Additionally, stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes can be rented.

SOUTH

Wizard Lake | Jubilee Park Day-Use Area

Where: Jubilee Park Campground (Hwy 39 W to Calmar, then Hwy 795 S for 19 km)

Wabamun Lake Provincial Park is 3 km east and 1 km south of Wabamun off Hwy.

Wabamun Lake has a sandy beach, a boat launch, a big playground, bathrooms, and grassy areas for picnics. Because it is so close to the city, it is usually busy in the summer. You should plan to leave early to find a parking spot. Also, don’t miss the spray park at Wabamun Waterfront Park for another great way to cool off!
