Hong Kong Heiress Seeks for £1 Million Over Unfulfilled Titanic Shipwreck Tour
Hong Kong businesswoman Karen Lo has filed a lawsuit in a London court against a travel agent, Henry Cookson, over her unfulfilled Titanic shipwreck tour, demanding compensation worth £1 million.

Eight years ago, Lo had paid £680,000 to Cookson Adventures to enable her to dive into the waters to view the remains of the Titanic, to cook and camp in the North Atlantic by way of the Titan submersible.
The diversion, as stated by the media, happened in 2015 when the Titan was reportedly struck by lightning. The company promised Karen Lo that the trip would be part of another arrangement.
The arrangement, however, never materialized because the coronavirus pandemic came in 2019 and then the Titan submersible imploded killing all five passengers, including OceanGate founder Stockton Rush, on their way to the Titanic in 2023.
With an estimated $1 billion fortune, Karen Lo is demanding the full £680,000 she had paid for the Titan submersible, which was of no use to her.
The heiress of a soy milk production company is seeking £1 million in damages.
Before now, Lo has shown herself to be one to file lawsuits demanding large amounts of compensatory sums. Just two years ago, she told a courthouse that she was suing a gallery owner for allegedly refusing to give her a painting by Banksy that she bought, demanding an amount in damages that was $500,000.
Some of the claims made by Cookson’s company are that Lo knew of the non-refundable policy on booking the submersible tour and proceeded to refuse any further opportunity for arranging another tour date even when it was presented to her.
Lawyers representing Cookson’s company said his agency had a couple of Titanic tours in 2021 and 2022, which Lo could have taken.
Cookson’s company is well known for its adventurous missions, including one in which it takes England’s Prince Harry to the North Pole.
