How to Lose a Team Member in 10 Steps, Uncolored

By  |
  1. Never give any feedback-good or bad-let them guess.
  2. Should never ask how they are. It’s not a therapy room.
  3. Be a micro-manager. Always dictate every move of employees because you know better.
  4. They are always supposed to be available. Salaries don’t just fall from the sky.
  5. There is development-just provide a nod to the budget request.
  6. Conflicts must be ignored. They’ll “melt away” by themselves.
  7. Always reward the same person. The loudest is best.
  8. Give out as little information as possible-the less, the better!
  9. A real boss demands authenticity-but only on their own terms.
  10. If they leave, they’re “cultural misfits.” And you wonder why those leave and never recommend you.

People don’t leave because of salaries, people leave because of bad atmosphere, relationships, bad feelings of being undervalued

Now you’ve got a good recipe—if you’re trying to lose them.

If you’re trying to keep them, read it again. Just flip the signs.
